International Fund for Animal Welfare (IFAW) has chosen HP Converged
Infrastructure to support its operations in 15 offices around the world
with improved technology performance to meet demands of operating global
charity efforts. According to the statement, the technology among
others, includes HP Integrity RX2620 and RX 6600 servers,HP ProLiant DL
380 G7 servers with advanced virtualization support.
The system runs on HP-UX and is aimed at effectively support critical
business applications in donor database, an internal portal, mail
systems, Oracle financial applications and also providing IFAW with more
efficient and reliable remote support at its U.S. headquarters, as well
as country offices in Canada, Latin America, Europe, Africa and Asia..
Created four decades ago, IFAW is the world's leading international
animal welfare organization focused on saving threatened species and
animals in crisis through a variety of campaigns and programs. IFAW has
been an HP partner for 12 years and HP has helped IFAW move more than 40
HP ProLiant servers and other infrastructure in less than 24 hours. As
part of the relocation, IFAW consolidated its data center with HP
Converged Infrastructure technology, including servers, storage and
networking equipment with unified management, the statement further
reads.
The latest development follows a series of hiccups in the organization's
primary data center, housed in an older building at its U.S.
headquarters in Massachusetts which suffered from space, power and
cooling constraints. Additionally, IFAW was looking to upgrade its
technology infrastructure to continue to effectively manage increasing
global business demands.
"We needed to upgrade our existing facility to meet increased demands of
our global charitable work both presently and in the future," said
Phyllis Bayer, director, IT Operations and Facilities, International
Fund for Animal Welfare. "With the help of HP, we were able to relocate
to a new building to continue support for our global fund raising
efforts and donor demands."
