Lufthansa will launch a new service from Munich to Jeddah this winter which will serve the new route via Riyadh from 31 October 2011 with an Airbus A340. Currently, Riyadh is served by a Boeing 737-800 owned by the Swiss business jet operator PrivatAir; on behalf of Lufthansa.
According to statements released by the firm and is available on its website, in the winter timetable, Riyadh and Jeddah will be served thrice weekly from Munich, supplementing the daily flights already operated by Lufthansa from Frankfurt.
“Saudi Arabia is becoming increasingly important for the Bavarian market. Deploying a larger aircraft on this route will enable Lufthansa to offer its customers a much wider choice of connections to Saudi Arabia,” says Thomas Klühr, who is responsible for Munich & Direct Services on the Lufthansa German Airlines Board.
