Software Drivers

Software drivers or drivers are software programs that enable an interface between computer and its hardware or any other device attached to it to communicate in order to implement a task. These are important programs since they establish a means of communication between the computer and devices. Each hardware or device installed on your computer has its own software called drivers which makes it possible for it to be recognized by the computer. Hardware without drivers or with damaged drivers can cause your computer to misbehave.
Most software drivers come together with the device on a CD during shipment. With the technological advancement taking fair share of the race these days, most drivers keep on changing to suit such developments. It is therefore, recommended that drivers be updated regularly. This process can be done by opening the Control Panel then, Windows Update. If the software drivers are not available, Windows will recommend links where you can download from on the internet.
How to Repair or Update:
· Click Start and then Computer
· Click on System Properties tab
· Click on Device Manager Tab
· Confirm action if prompted to do so
· Check list of devices that appears in the windows. If there is any device that is not working properly or whose drivers are not installed, a yellow question mark is indicated against such device. If so,
· Right click the device and click on properties and you will see ‘this device is not working properly’ in the General tab window.
· Click on Update driver. If the driver is found on your computer, windows will try to install them or will refer you to the internet for a fresh download or updates. Confirm action accordingly. If prompted to enter administrator’s password, enter accordingly.
· If the drivers for a particular device are working properly, you will see ‘This device is working properly’.
Windows provide a hassle free means of updating drivers on your computer. Make use of Windows update to constantly update drivers.
