How to prevent computer viruses

A computer virus is a software program written by ill-intentioned people to damage computers. Though computer viruses have been there for years, some computer users find it hard to remove them from their PC. Effective removal of viruses can only be achieved by use of relevant tools such as strong and trustworthy antivirus software.
Prevention
Despite the presence of the many antivirus software programs out there, the battle is far from over as new viruses or malicious programs are being introduced everyday and millions of dollars are spent to fight the war. It should be emphasized here that the use of any antivirus software program is no guarantee that you will achieve one hundred percent security for your PC. Here are the steps to help prevent viruses from being introduced on your PC:
-Always turn on Automatic updates for your PC
-Use strong Internet Firewall
-Constantly scan your PC and update  antivirus software
-Always use antivirus software from a trusted source
- Back up your files on regular basis
-Avoid use of attachments from unknown or untrusted sources
-Never install software programs whose source is unknown
How to remove:
-Open your antivirus console and start scanning
-Remove, heal, delete, repair or quarantine infected files. This  depends on your choice.
-If you don’t have antivirus software installed on your PC, run online scan from trusted sources. Sources such as Microsoft and Kaspersky are some of the manufacturers who offer better online services.
Symptoms of infection:
-Frequent computer crashes and restarts on its own
-Computer becomes slow than normal
-Computer sometimes stops responding to commands and hangs
-Computer brings messages that some files are corrupt or missing
-Computer brings message that some files are infected and error messages
-Some applications may not be accessible to you
-Some programs may not run normally
