Sharp to Build New Plant in Indonesia

Sharp Corporation intends to expand production and sales subsidiary P.T. Sharp Electronics Indonesia (SEID) based in Jakarta, Indonesia. The project will address production capacity for refrigerators and washing machines through the new  production facility which will be built in Karawang International Industrial City (KIIC) in Karawang, West Java Province.
The development comes at a time when projections for domestic consumption continue to grow steadily in the Indonesian market in concert with economic development. Indonesia is seen as a potential for market expansion in the future.
According to the statement posted on Sharp’s official website, the new plant will produce approximately 220,000 units/month and the firm has injected 1,200 billion rupiah (about 10.7 billion yen) into the project which will start operations in 2013.
