Is it possible for a child as young as three months old to be able to read? Yes is the short answer. Imagine how proud you would feel knowing that your child can read at such an early age.

A child will typically begin to read when he or she starts elementary school. But is there anything that you as a parent can do to help your child prior to elementary school.

A child's mind is like a sponge, from just being born, all the way up to age of four. During this time a window of opportunity has opened, one in which you and your your child can take advantage of.

Give the following five tips a try, and see how you get on.

One. There are a number of ways you can present words to your baby, but which ever way you choose, be sure the fonts are big. You can use your imagination here, but the obvious materials to use are chalk boards, erase boards or simply pen and paper. Visuals are so important when teaching a baby, so make them big and clearly written.

Two. When choosing which words to work with initially, words such as mommy and daddy are a good place to start. Basically anything that is familiar to your baby, body parts, animals, colors that type of thing.

Three. Flash cards are an excellent method to stimulate and catch the attention of your baby. Flash cards work best in a room with very little distraction. To begin with, flash a word in front of your baby with an obvious picture of the word next to it. But at the same time say the word clearly, so that your baby can see you verbalize the word. Repeat this process for each word.

Four. As your baby progresses, you can put words together in a sentence. This is were the process of getting your baby to read really begins. So from a sentence you can then go to a whole story.

Five. Baby reading videos can be used in tandem with the methods already discussed previously. Videos are excellent, in that they combine visuals and sound, which will really give your baby a head start.

You really must take advantage of this brief window of opportunity, The rate at which your baby processes information at this early age really is a time not to miss or waste
